About Insomnia
Insomniacures.co.uk was created to provide information for people suffering from insomnia. It is meant as a general guide only and takes no responsibility for individual’s health or sleep patterns or well being.
Having suffered from insomnia for many years I thought it wise to look into it’s causes and effects. This website aims to share my discovery in this subject area. I hope you enjoy and get a good nights rest…
Insomnia is a much more common affliction than most people realise. Around a third of the population has trouble sleeping and nearly 1 in 10 of those see it as a major problem in their lives. Insomnia isn’t just having trouble sleeping at night, it spills over into people’s everyday lives, affecting memory, ability to work, ability to enjoy socialising with family & friends and making people very unhappy. It is also a disturbing fact that people who suffer from insomnia are more likely to have road accidents due to tiredness. Considering the average person spends 30% of their lives asleep, it is something that’s importance is underestimated, those of us without sleep problems may not realise the luxury we have of choosing to forsake a few hours sleep for a good night out or perhaps work, while those that do have sleep problems may lie awake for hours, desperately tired but unable to sleep.
There are numerous ways people try and sleep, with insomnia cures ranging from alcohol, sleeping tablets and CD’s to self-help books, hypnosis and even checking themselves into clinics. It may be that they key to getting a good nights sleep is something as simple as identifying and eliminating a sleep disrupter, such as an uncomfortable bed, a bedroom that is too hot or perhaps a pet that is making noise throughout the night. Other cases may not be open to such simple insomnia curse as they are actually caused by a deep psychological root, in which case much more in-depth help is needed.
Remember, just because you have experienced a couple of nights bad sleep, it doesn’t mean you are an insomniac. Sleep can be disrupted easily by stress or other external factors, if you find yourself unable to sleep, think about what is going on in your life currently – is there anything that may be causing you more stress than usual? Normally these kind of sleep disruptions will only be temporary and you will find your sleep patten resumes once your life returns to it’s normal levels, so don’t panic if you find yourself tossing and turning occasionally, it happens to everyone at some time throughout their lives.
